The Calicut City Service Co-Operative Bank Ltd (CCSCBL) proposed to set up a world class 100-bedded cancer hospital and research centre here soon.
Talking to newspersons today, CCCBL President C N Vijayakrishan said the bank had already acquired 15 acre of land for the Rs 500 crore mega project at Chathamangalam, near the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C).
First phase of the project would be completed by 2013, he said, adding that the office of the ambitious project would be inaugurated on June 1, 2011.
The second and final phase of the project was expected to be completed by 2021, he added.
The bank had already appointed a Mumbai-based consultancy firm to steamline the project coordinated by a 15-member Executive Committee members of Cancer and Allied Ailments Research (CARE) Foundation, a Charitable Trust, Mr Vijaykrishan added.
On funding, he said, initial expenditure of the project would be met by the bank, adding that the rest would be through donations received from various sources.
Announcing the results of the CCSCBL, he said “the bank has registered a record 70 per cent growth by posting a total deposit of Rs 176 crore in the fiscal 2010-11 against Rs 105 crore in the corresponding period last year".
